Zoo School at the Berlin Zoo
Since 2005, GSW has financed the staff costs and part of the cost of materials of the Zoo School at the Berlin Zoo. Thanks to this commitment, it was possible to avoid the closure of an important facility that teaches children, particularly of primary school age, how to interact responsibly with flora and fauna. Since then, numerous school classes have enjoyed visits to the Zoo School.
Support for youth sports activities
The promotion of cohesion in a social group supports the acceptance of responsibility and the formation of social competence among children and young people. GSW supports the youth sports of FC Union Berlin and organises the annual GSW Youth Cup for E and F soccer teams. Furthermore, GSW equips the youth teams in some cases with sportswear.
Support for the "Familiensportmesse" (family sports fair) organised by the Berlin Turnerbund (gymnastics association)
Since 2007, we have supported the Berlin Familiensportmesse organised by the Berlin Turnerbund. It gives children and young people access to popular sports at over 20 locations in Berlin and opens up an opportunity to transfer the team spirit gained through interaction in sports into the private sphere as well.
Tenant concert
Support for the Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt and staging of a cultural event for tenants
Many of the GSW tenants can only rarely visit cultural events due to their financial situation. The aim of the annual concert is to promote social contact between tenants while at the same time supporting one of Berlin's cultural assets, the Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt.
In addition, GSW supports the "Berlinische Galerie" and the Berlin Architecture Award. It also makes the foyer of the GSW Haus on Charlottenstrasse 4 available to young Berlin artists for exhibitions.
